TV says 'No signal' or the picture is black
TV turns on but shows 'No signal', a black screen, or the wrong input.
- 1
Check the input
Press Input or Source on the TV remote and pick the HDMI port your cable box, Apple TV or Roku is plugged into. Go through each HDMI option slowly.
- 2
Make sure the box is on
Check that the cable box or streaming device has a light. If not, check its power cord and press its power button.
- 3
Restart both
Unplug the TV and the box from power for 60 seconds. Plug them back in and turn on the TV first, then the box.
- 4
Reseat the HDMI cable
If you can reach it safely, unplug the HDMI cable at both ends and plug it back in firmly. Don't remove a wall-mounted TV from its mount to reach cables.
When to call a technician
Call us if the TV is wall-mounted with hidden cables, if several inputs show no signal, or if the TV won't power on at all.
Did this fix it?
Common questions
Is my TV broken?+
Usually not. 'No signal' means the TV is working but isn't getting a picture from the selected input.
Can I fix cables behind a mounted TV myself?+
We don't recommend it. Mounted TVs are heavy and cables may be inside the wall.
We mount and wire TVs across Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs and Fort Myers, including hidden in-wall cabling. Our service areas.
