Sonos not connecting or not playing
Speaker missing in the app, won't play, or keeps dropping out.
- 1
Check your phone's Wi-Fi
Your phone must be on the same home Wi-Fi as the Sonos speakers, not a guest network or cellular data.
- 2
Close and reopen the Sonos app
Fully close the Sonos app and open it again. Make sure the app is up to date in the App Store or Google Play.
- 3
Restart the speaker
Unplug the Sonos speaker's power for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Wait about 2 minutes for the light to settle.
- 4
Restart the router if several speakers are missing
If more than one speaker is missing, restart your Wi-Fi router, wait 3 minutes, then restart the speakers one by one.
- 5
Avoid factory resets
Don't factory reset Sonos speakers unless a technician asks you to. Resetting removes them from your system and you'll have to set up rooms again.
When to call a technician
Call us if speakers drop out regularly, if a surround or sub stopped working, or if your Sonos system is on a complex network. We're Sonos installation specialists.
Did this fix it?
Common questions
Why does Sonos keep cutting out?+
Usually Wi-Fi interference or weak coverage. Wiring one speaker or improving Wi-Fi often fixes it.
My surround speakers or sub stopped working.+
Restart the soundbar first, then the surrounds. If they're still silent, book service.
