Printer won't print or shows offline
Says 'offline', jobs get stuck, or nothing comes out.
- 1
Check the printer itself
Look at the printer's screen or lights. Clear any message about paper, ink, a jam, or an open cover. Gently remove jammed paper in the direction it travels.
- 2
Restart the printer
Turn the printer off with its power button, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. Wait until it's fully ready.
- 3
Make sure it's on Wi-Fi
On the printer's screen, look for a Wi-Fi icon or network status. If it shows disconnected, it may have lost Wi-Fi after a router change or outage. Your computer and printer must be on the same network.

Clear stuck print jobs
Windows: Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > your printer > Open print queue, then cancel all jobs. Mac: System Settings > Printers & Scanners > your printer > Printer Queue, then delete jobs.
- 5
Restart the computer and try one page
Restart your computer and print a single simple page, like a short email.

Did this fix it?
Common questions
Why does my printer keep going offline?+
Usually because it's far from the router, or the router changed. A technician can give it a reliable connection.
Do I need to reinstall the printer?+
Sometimes, but try the steps above first. Removing and re-adding the printer is safe if you know which model it is.
